Project Choice-CSULA is a training program designed to prepare college students for outreach immersion to the Hispanic/Latino Community with an emphasis on working with veterans and individuals with disabilities as trained Peer Health Advocates (PHA) or Veteran Health Advocate (VHA).


Project Choice-CSULA Goals

Reduce alcohol and other drug (AOD) behavior associated with HIV exposure

Reduce HIV/AOD related disparities among the targeted population


Peer-to-Peer Education Goals

Presentations and recruitment in classrooms, organizations, and clubs on HIV and AOD information

Campus events and activities


Community Outreach & Resource Referral Goals

Outreach to surrounding community colleges

Promotion of HIV testing through on-site mobile testing unit

Promote service seeking behaviors by referring to local health services



Project Choice-CSULA:HIV and Substance Abuse Prevention Program is funded by a Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Administration Grant.
